Pre-Cancer Diagnostic Development

Predicting pre-cancerous colorectal polyps with 90% accuracy from a drop of blood
Sangui Bio has developed proprietary methods that enable diagnostic biomarkers to be identified from a single drop of blood. Our lead diagnostic program is focused on detecting colorectal polyps before they become cancerous.

A sample of blood you take at home could save your life

Sangui Bio’s lead diagnostic program is focused on detecting colorectal polyps before they become cancerous. Colorectal cancer can be prevented by removing polyps during a colonoscopy.
  • Fingerprick blood sampling is easily completed by over 90% of people and is an effective way to capture a sample for screening tests
  • Accurate prediction of colorectal polyps will enable the at-risk population to be offered colonoscopy

1,000 Person Study

Sangui Bio is recruiting for a large colorectal polyp study using at-home stool and fingerprick dried blood samples. In partnership with Microba (www.microba.com), stool samples will undergo microbiome analysis, while Sangui Bio's advanced platform will be used to analyse the blood samples and identify protein biomarkers of advanced polyps.

A key benefit of at-home sampling before colonoscopy is that participants have not completed the bowel prep, reflecting real-world screening program.

Commercialisation Timeline

To enable commercial translation into the world’s largest healthcare market, Sangui Bio has begun discussions with a US-based commercial contract research organisation. They have proprietary technologies to enable commercial translation from protein discovery to clinically validated targeted biomarker panels and regulated tests in-market.

Statistics

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths. In 2024, approximately two million people will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer and 1 million people will die from it.
